La Roque-Gageac was among the first in France to be officially classed as one of the country’s most beautiful villages. Lying in the heart of the Périgord Noir, it is tucked between a mighty rock and the banks of a beautiful long curve of the River Dordogne. As well as the gorgeous honey-coloured stone of its medieval houses, it is renowned for its semi-tropical garden.

Thanks to the village’s genuine micro-climate, the garden has a large variety of plants which normally you would only find much farther south.

Throughout the day here, your eyes will be continually treated to a feast of colour.
